Breakfast Recipes - Broken Wheat Upuma

Broken Wheat(dahlia)  

Serves 2

Ingredients : 

  1. Broken Wheat - 1cup
  2. Water - 11/2 cup
  3. Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Urad dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Split Bengal Gram - 1tablespoon
  6. Curry leaves few
  7. Dry Red chilli - 2(cut into small)
  8. big onion minced - 1
  9. Ginger Grated few
  10. Oil - 1/2 table spoon
  11. coconut grated - 1table spoon
  12. salt as needed

Method

  1. Put Broken Wheat , water & salt in the Pressure cooker,Cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Heat the oil in the pan,splitter mustard seeds,then add urad dhal,split bengal gram dhal & fry for a while.Then add dry red chilli,curry leaves ,cut onions & Ginger.Fry until onion translucent.
  3. Add the cooked broken wheat & mix it.using the spatula level the upuma. Keep it in low fire for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the coconut & mix well. Switch off the fire & serve as hot.
