Bread Machine Recipes -Light Wholemeal Bread

Light Wholemeal Bread 


Ingredients:

  1. Water - 280ml or 11/4cup
  2. Wholemeal (whole-wheat) bread flour - 250gm or 2 1/4 cups
  3. Unbleached White bread flour – 125gm or 1 cup
  4. Skimmed Milk powder - 15ml or 1tbsp
  5. Salt -7.5ml or 1 1/2tsp
  6. Brown sugar or normal granulated sugar or honey or mix of honey & sugar -7.5ml or 2tbsp
  7. Butter or vegetable oil - 25g or 2 tbsp
  8. Easy bake (rapid-rise) dried yeast – 5ml or 1tsp

Method: 


  1. Pour the water in the bread machine pan.
  2. Sprinkle over both whole wheat & plain bread flours ensuring it covers the water.
  3. Add the skimmed milk powder,salt,sugar and butter in separate corners of the bread pan.
  4. Make a small indent in the centre of the flour and add the yeast.
  5. Set the bread machine to the white/basic setting,chose the crust,press start.
  6. Remove the bread at the end of the cycle. Turn out on to the wire rack.
If the instructions in your bread machine specify that the yeast is to be placed in the pan.Then reverse the order from 4 to 1.
