Chicken Curry Recipe


This chicken curry goes well with Rice  or idly dosa or appam or chapathi or toasted bread.

Ingredients :

  1. Chicken cut & cleaned - 1kg
  2. Masala powders
  • Chilli powder - 3 teaspoon
  • Corriander powder - 3 teaspoon 
  • Turmeric -1teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala -1 teaspoon
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  1. Onions chopped - 2
  2. Tomato chopped -1 big
  3. Garlic - 5-6 cloves
  4. Ginger - 1inch piece
  5. Coconut milk - 200ml
  6. Salt as needed
  7. Oil - 1tablespoon
  8. Seasoning - Cardamom 1, cinnamon 1stick,aniseeds 1/2 teaspoon,Cloves -1
  9. Coriander chopped- 1tablespoon

Method : 

  1. Clean the chicken and marinate with 1teaspoon chilli powder,1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder & salt for about 10 minutes.Keep aside.
  2. Grind the ginger & garlic paste.
  3. Heat the heavy bottom pan.Add oil,season with cardamom,cinnamon,aniseeds & cloves.Add & fry the onions until translucent & add ginger garlic paste fry for few seconds.
  4. Add the marinated chicken,put all the masalas & salt.Then add cut potatoes & chopped tomatoes,mix well.Cook for about 2minutes.
  5. Add 1cup or 240ml water & close the lid,let to cook the chicken for about 15-20 minutes(depends on the chicken).
  6. Add the coconut milk,cook in a medium fire for about 5- 10 minutes until the oil comes out.Switch off the stove,decorate with the chopped coriander leaves.Serve hot.
Variation -you can replace the masala powder with chicken/meat masala powder.
